Stereotypes help you pinpoint exactly who your customers are and how they differ from one another. With stereotypes, you don’t categorise customers based on (meaningless) demographic characteristics, but on their key needs, wishes and preferences.
It helps you keep a sharp focus on different user groups. You’ll start to view your service or product from multiple perspectives. This enables you to spot opportunities for specific groups – opportunities you may have overlooked at first.
But how do you create these stereotypes? What insights do you need to do so? What do you base the differences on? And how do you ultimately ensure that this leads to valuable and actionable ideas?
