Here’s a thought experiment: imagine a world without the arts. What would that world look like? There’s a lot to be said on the subject, but we can keep the answer brief: terrible.

The Artist breathes life into everything he touches. Every canvas you present to him takes on shape and colour, engaging your senses. A company name becomes a logo. A website becomes a user experience. A collection of dry facts becomes a brand story. He smooths out the rough edges, whilst highlighting the strengths. It’s simple: people simply prefer to work with beautiful things rather than ugly ones. A stunning app will always win out over the plain, unremarkable version, even if the content is exactly the same. Beauty is hard currency.

Superpowers

  • He’s a magician: with just three clicks of a button, he can create something beautiful.
  • The message packager: he not only creates the data, but also captures the essence of the product in words and images.
  • Design is everything: it can elevate your product to new heights and get people hooked. The late Steve Jobs would certainly agree.

Kryptonite

  • The Artist is notoriously insecure: art and design are matters of taste, so you can never please everyone.
  • Can be misleading: he is capable of masking substantive ugliness with sleek design and beautiful text.
  • Two letters: AI.

The Artist In Practice

The Artist is everywhere you see beautiful design. From Apple to Instagram and Nike: The Artist can capture the essence of your brand in a single logo that everyone recognises instantly and that evokes a feeling.

Archenemy

He views The Robot with great trepidation. Just think about it: The Artist has toiled for years to create his own style, and then suddenly AI comes along with its Midjourney and ChatGPT. Free design and copy in minutes. Where is this heading? What does it mean for him?

Ally

He and The Cupid are a golden duo. Together, they make you fall in love with a product or service: both inside and out. And whilst he might not realise it yet, The Robot could also become a friend of his. AI can take over simple tasks from him, so that The Artist has more time for the real design work.

Summary

Of course, ultimately it’s all about the substance of your product or service. But it’s The Artist who beautifully packages and presents it all. And that’s why he’s indispensable.
